According to a press release, Palazzo Versace Dubai is now accepting Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for payment.
Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, has been partnered by the resort to allow its customers to pay bitcoin. Customers can now use bitcoin to pay for hotel rooms, meals, events, and spa treatments since September 7. All guests have now the option of paying at the property via the Binance app.
Monther Darwish (managing director at Palazzo Versace), stated that Palazzo Versace is "continue to be the pioneers in innovation and growth within the hospitality industry," according to the release. "Accepting cryptocurrency as payment is another innovative step we have taken to make our business ready for the future."
The resort will now be able to integrate online payments. This phase is expected to take place "soon thereafter". Palazzo will integrate the payment method through its ecommerce platform. Customers can also purchase gift cards or browse the flower shop.
Palazzo's acceptance for bitcoin follows the entry of Komainu and FTX exchange into Dubai, as the region tries to be a hub of digital innovation.
"Palazzo Versace's capability to accept virtual assets payments is a reflection on how Dubai's hospitality industry is leading the way in innovation as we move towards a digital world," Nadeem Ladki said, Binance's head of business development in the region.
Ladki stated, "Payments is only the beginning. We look forward to building upon this partnership together."
