Bitcoin’s Mining Difficulty Taps All-Time High — 220 Exahash of Hashpower Remains Strong


At block height 753,984, Bitcoin's mining difficulty jumped to an all-time high of 32.05 trillion hashes from 30.97 trillion. The network's mining difficulty rose 3.45% on September 13, after two difficulty increases in the last month.

Bitcoin's difficulty reaches 32 Trillion

Bitcoin (BTC), the most popular cryptocurrency according to market capitalization, is much more difficult to mine. On Tuesday, September 13th, 2022, the network's difficulty reached an all-time record of 32.05 trillion. The difficulty experienced the second-largest growth in 2022, with a 9.26% increase. This was roughly two weeks ago (or 2,016 blocks).

The difficulty increased slightly by 0.3% over the previous two weeks, or 2,016 blocks. It has never been easier to get a bitcoin (BTC), block reward after the block height increase today. BTC's U.S. Dollar value fell by over 9% Tuesday afternoon (ET) following the U.S. CPI Report.

Despite recent price drops and difficulty rises, BTC's hashrate remains above 200 exahash per seconds (EH/s). At the time of writing it is running at 227.07 EH/s. Foundry USA was the top network pool, accounting for 26.85% global hashrate over the last 24 hours.

F2pool has 15.4% of BTC hashpower and Binance Pool has 14.77%. Foundry follows. Antpool (13.42%), and Viabtc (10.17%) are the next two. In the last 24 hours, 149 blocks were mined. Foundry USA found 40 blocks and F2pool took 23 blocks.

BTC block time at the moment is 9:17 per block. There are 2,011 blocks to mine before the next difficulty change, which is expected on September 27, 2022. The network could experience a 3.7% drop at current block interval speeds and realized hashrate.
